Online Gardening Advice and Resources

Looking for some great online gardening advice and resources? Here are a few of our favorite gardening experts who are actively posting news, tips and information while at home:

The Sacramento Tree Foundation is our go-to expert when it comes to caring for our prized urban forest. They are continuing their work during the emergency by providing expert advice, offering virtual shade tree assessments, self-guided tree tours and trainings, and even offer online curriculum for 3rd and 4th graders.

Debbie Arrington is one of our all-time favorite garden writers from the Sacramento Bee, Sacramento News & Review and elsewhere. She’s joined forces with fellow journalist Kathy Morrison to create the Sacramento Digs Gardening blog. The blog provides tons of useful insight, news and tips for Sacramento-area gardeners.

Marlene Simon “The Plant Lady” is a staff Horticulturalist at the UC Davis Botanical Conservatory and frequent contributor to Good Day Sacramento, the Sacramento Bee and Be Water Smart. She hosts dozens of gardening tips videos and podcasts on her You Tube channel, Facebook and Instagram pages. You can find her:

Farmer Fred Hoffman is a longtime master gardener and legendary local gardening expert. He hosts several gardening shows on radio stations KFBK 93.1 FM and Talk 650 KSTE (also streaming online), blog and a website full of tips.
