Drought Face Winners Announced

Winners’ whiskers represent 18,400 gallons in water savings

 

Four bushy beards and an impressively long, six-year-old moustache have been selected as winners of the Drought Face contest and will be featured on a digital billboard at Cal Expo and Business 80 in February.

Sponsored by the Regional Water Authority and local water providers, the contest challenged residents to show off their Drought Face by showing off their whiskers or other water-saving activity. Beards save water—about 5 gallons per shave. A Drought Face symbolizes all of the small actions residents are taking to conserve water this winter that add up to big savings, like skipping a shave or two and taking shorter showers.

Nearly 40 people entered the contest, and three photos were selected to be featured on the billboard. The winners’ whiskers represent a collective water savings of 18,400 gallons of water. Winners are:
