Drip Irrigation Basics Workshop

Presented by University of California Cooperative Extension, the City of Sacramento, Regional Water Authority, and the California Center for Urban Horticulture, this Inline drip emitterworkshop will focus on drip irrigation systems for home landscapers and gardeners. You will learn from irrigation specialists how to design a system that will effectively deliver water to the plants in your garden or landscape with the least amount of waste. Also, UC Master Gardeners will be available to answer plant questions.

What you will learn:

  • How drip irrigation works and benefits of using it 
  • Advantages of drip vs. sprinklers
  • How much of the soil needs to be watered?
  • Potential problems and limitations
  •  Types of drip irrigation
  • In-line emitter tubing
  • Plug-in emitters for specific situations
  • Use of spaghetti tubing vs. larger tubing
  • Retrofitting lawn sprinklers to drip irrigation using existing plumbing
  • Converting lawn sprinklers to drip for landscape plantings
  • Understanding conversion kits
  • See actual drip systems and parts

 

Space is limited. There is no charge for this workshop, but registration is required and will close November 3. Names of registrants will be included in a drawing for several free drip conversion kits to be given away at the workshop. Click here for more information and to register.
