Great Beer Depends on Great Water

At BeWaterSmart, we understand the vital role that clean and reliable water plays in crafting exceptional beer. It’s not just a drink; it’s an art form that hinges on the quality of its essential ingredient—water!

Our brewery partnership program is aimed at creating a strong bond between local craft brewers and their customers, all while championing tips for using water wisely. For local craft brewers, the partnership offers a great opportunity to tap into a community of customers who not only appreciate exceptional taste but also prioritize sustainability.

Cheers to Sustainable Brewing

Be Water Smart offered $15,000 rebates to local businesses for upgrading their indoor water-using equipment to help save water and energy. Solid Ground Brewing in Diamond Springs and Urban Roots Brewery and Smokehouse in Sacramento hopped into innovation.Solid Ground utilized the rebate for a rinse water retainment and “Clean in Place” system. This setup not only recycles cleaning water and caustic wash solution but also slashes water waste. Moving away from single-use practices, they’re projected to save over 1.5 million gallons of water over two decades—a toast to smart brewing!

Urban Roots, on the other hand, is cooling down its water consumption. With the rebate, they’re introducing a cooling holding tank. By reducing water for heat exchange and minimizing wastewater, they’re making a splash in eco-conscious brewing. The tank is projected to save a refreshing 1.3 million gallons of water over 20 years. These rebates aren’t just dollars saved; they’re gallons rescued. A testament to innovation and commitment, these breweries are turning the tide towards sustainable sipping, one drop at a time.
