The Water Spots video contest is designed to spread the word about water efficiency through the talents of high school and middle school-aged filmmakers in the Sacramento region.
Sponsored by the Regional Water Authority (RWA) and local water providers, each year the contest challenges students with a real-life project: Create a 30-second public service video that educates and motivates the public to use water efficiently and stop water waste according to a select theme. The 2023 Water Spots theme is: DO YOUR PART TO BE WATER SMART.
Prizes for students and teachers range from cash to Amazon gift cards for top-scoring videos as determined by a panel of water experts, community leaders and online voting. The Grand Prize-winning video will be shown for one month in a local movie theatre during the summer of 2023.
2022 winners came from Franklin High School in Elk Grove, Whitney High School in Rocklin and Sutter Middle School in Sacramento.
The deadline to enter is Friday, March 10, 2023. You can find complete details at https://bewatersmart.info/waterspots/.
