Transform your water-intensive lawn in-to a beautiful, drought tolerant landscape that features low-water trees, native grasses, perennials, and shrubs.

This workshop presents step-by-step methods of turf removal, soil amendment, and irrigation best practices that make the most out of each drop. Landscape design concepts, with a focus on plant species that have proven successful in the varied climate conditions of Sacramento and neighboring counties.

Morning presentations are followed by afternoon demonstrations and hands-on activities for lawn removal, garden design, planting, and irrigation. Native and drought-tolerant plants will be on hand. Material presented is appropriate for home-owners and professionals alike, so all are welcome!

OPTIONAL Post-workshop walking tour to two nearby recently completed lawn conversion projects is also in the planning stages. These private yards contain non-native plantings but are examples of drought tolerant landscaping.
