Irrigation Practices for 2023 – Coping with Dynamic Weather

$20Regional Water Authority is partnering with the California Center for Urban Horticulture and Jim Borneman to learn irrigation strategies for maintaining trees, shrubs and lawns under dynamic weather conditions while complying with the landscape irrigation restrictions.
You will learn the following:
- Understand how to assess your irrigation system
- How to assess your controller for compatibility for a 2 day/week irrigation schedule
- Understand amount of time required to irrigate based upon plant material and your irrigation system
- Understand how to create a 2 day/week irrigation schedule
Due to the ongoing COVID situation: Masks are not required but highly recommended.
Recommended Working Knowledge for attending Workshop:
- Understand how to read a water meter
- Understand the terminology: precipitation (PR) and application (AR) rates
- Understand how to program irrigation schedules into a manual controller (not smart controller)
- Understand how cycle and soak work and why is it important for managing irrigation
- Understand how and why to use multiple start times for managing irrigation
Instructors:
Jim Borneman is the former Vice President of Education Services at Ewing Irrigation and Landscape Supply. Jim has been providing irrigation training to landscape professionals across the United States for over 40 years.
Dave Fujino has served for more than 15+ years as the director of the California Center for Urban Horticulture (CCUH), Co-Director of the UC Nursery and Floriculture Alliance at UC Davis and Chair of the Saratoga Horticultural Research Endowment.
