Join Sacramento Splash for a 2-hour docent-led tour of the Mather Field vernal pools. In March, the pools should be filled with water and tons of weird, wonderful critters that can only live in this rare habitat. In April, as the spring sun warms the earth and the water evaporate, the wet phase gives way to the flower phase. Each pool has its own assortment of critters and flowers depending upon the soil, hydrology and many factors we don’t yet understand. They even change from week to week!
