Show the Flow: A video tour showing landscapes as watersheds in action
October 13, 2022 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
$25The Show the Flow screening event is an educational video tour of large- and small-scale watersheds to raise awareness, inform, inspire, and demonstrate how landscape communities can protect and improve the health and water quality of local creeks, streams, and rivers, and prevent storm water pollution. Watershed stewardship is the responsibility of everyone who touches and impacts landscapes.
Each landscape in itself is a watershed, sequestering atmospheric carbon, preventing water and air pollution, restoring the hydration and life of the soil, attracting essential life with native plants, reducing erosion control with softscape and permeable hardscape materials, and slowing the flow of stormwater with green infrastructure. By referencing Sacramento’s waterways on a site-by-site basis, participants learn the relationship between suburban landscapes and local water bodies.
Residential, commercial, and public agency sites on the tour will demonstrate the principles of the Watershed Approach to Landscapes and how these principles can be applied in various situations. Interviews and discussions with subject-matter experts will inform participants about site-specific hydrology, design considerations, installation, and management of applications of watershed-based principles.
