Virtual Water Wise House
Calls and Rebates

Many water providers are continuing their free services for customers on a virtual basis during the emergency. Services include Water Wise House Calls, which can connect you with a water efficiency expert by phone or video chat. Experts can guide you in checking for household leaks, troubleshoot sprinkler system problems and create a custom garden watering schedule.

Some, such as the City of Sacramento, are even offering virtual Sprinkler Spruce Ups by phone or video chat. During the Spruce Up, a water efficiency team member will take a look at your sprinkler timer and watering schedule, troubleshoot issues and offer tips for making sure sprinklers are running as efficiently as possible.

Water providers are also accepting rebate applications for customers who are using this time at home to upgrade sprinkler timers, sprinkler nozzles and irrigation parts, toilets, clothes washers and other water-using items.

Recently launched, is a new instant rebate on a Rachio 3 Smart Sprinkler Controller, which acts like a thermostat for your sprinklers by using local weather conditions to adjust when and how long sprinklers run. The controller typically retails for about $220 for an eight-zone system and about $270 for a 16-zone system but both are being offered at a reduced rate of $75 plus tax to eligible customers in the Sacramento region. (Installation is not included.)
